A lesson that we all need to learn here, is that large, nameless, faceless, no direct accountability business practices are inherently very risky.
There's an old proverb about knowing who your in the fox hole with, the same concept applies to business. Business used to be done on the honor system backed by personal integrity, relationships and reputation. The unbelievable success of micro finance as proved out by Dr. Yunus and the Grameen Bank of a 97% loan pay back rate of an impoverished people, proves out the case. The popularity and resurgence in support of local economies is another real touchstone on how we perhaps have come full circle. Think about it for a moment. Do you not from the fiber of your very being want to do business with the little guy, the family run business, the local entrepreneur or farmer!
Perhaps we are headed in the right direction after all! Just a little weeding of the garden is in order. This is not to say that big business is inherently harmful but big business run with the virtues of small business has great resonance with me.
