Earth's BioGeo Systems

Our planet has been perfecting its' BioGeo systems for a few billion years now. We humans are relatively new comers to the planet. Why is it we arrogantly plow ahead with our human chemistry and technology without recognizing that we are like infants with a chemistry set. Last I checked we produced some 8 million chemical compounds.
Is it really so difficult to learn from the natural world and apply what she has learned in the last few billion years, before we release our chemical compounds into the environment and ultimately our own bodies.
Utilizing the "12 principles of green chemistry is a good start".
Often our so called quantum leaps forward prove to be short lived gains and actually destructive in the long run. The Green Revolution and the use of pesticides may prove to be one example.
Perhaps we should look to nature as the wise old guy/gal of the forest and consult her billions of years of knowledge, before we arrogantly plow forward thinking we have improved upon nature.
